Top Tips when the bottom falls out of your world…and your vagina

You know something isn’t right.

You eventually see your GP.

You get told you have a prolapse.

The bottom falls out of your world

You await a referral to a Gynaecologist

You spend the next 6 months googling

You stop moving for fear of making ‘it’ worse

The fear increases

You become hypervigilant and zone in on your vagina allll the time

You worry about how you’re going to manage periods

You worry about what that means for your sex life

It becomes all consuming

Take a minute and breathe - Believe it or not but learning to breathe well makes a huge difference to what we feel down below. For now though, calm your nervous system- breathe in for 6 counts, breathe out for 6...continue

STOP Googling

Research takes a long time to filter into healthcare services. Google will have you doing nothing but walking and swimming and lifting nothing heavier than your kettle ever again. STOP.

Tip 3- Seek help and guidance from a qualified professional (whether that’s booking another appointment with your GP so you can ask questions, find a Women’s Health Coach like me, or seeing the Gynaecologist)

Tip 4- Ask for a referral to a Women’s Health Physiotherapist. Ultimately Gynaecologist are surgeons…. There is a world of alternatives before surgery needs to be considered

Tip 5- Take action on the things that are within your control- see my blog posts for lifestyle changes that can be a game changer (think poop, nutrition, hydration, menstrual cycles, scars, movement, breathing, etc).

Tip 6- Remember, Pelvic organ prolapse is not your fault.
